Terms of Service

Last updated: 24 October 2026

These Terms of Service govern your use of RailTrack, an Indian Railways passenger companion app for Android. By installing or using RailTrack, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

1. What RailTrack is

RailTrack helps you plan and follow train journeys in India: find trains between stations, view live running status and station boards, check a PNR, follow a train on a map, set wake-up alarms for your stop, consult the IRCTC onboard food tariff, and find railway helplines. It is a companion and information tool. It is not a railway operator, a travel agent, or a ticketing service.

2. Independent service — no affiliation

RailTrack is developed and published independently. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or connected to Indian Railways, IRCTC, NTES, ConfirmTkt, or any railway authority. Nothing in the app should be read as an official railway communication, and official announcements, timetables, and bookings remain the responsibility of the official channels.

3. No ticket sales

RailTrack does not sell, reserve, or cancel tickets, and it cannot change a booking. Where the app points you toward booking, that step happens through the official or partner booking channel under that channel's own terms. RailTrack is not a party to any ticket purchase and is not responsible for fares charged, refunds, or booking outcomes.

4. No account required

RailTrack requires no account and no sign-in. Your searches, history, favourites, alarms, and settings are stored on your device and are your responsibility to keep or delete. Uninstalling the app removes that on-device data.

5. Estimates, live data, and accuracy

This is the most important section of these terms, so it is stated plainly:

6. Offline use

Station and train directories, search, history, and route results work without a network connection. Live running status, real station boards, and PNR checks require a connection, and map tiles and rail geometry outside a downloaded offline region require one too. The app distinguishes offline-capable content from live content; absence of a connection is not, by itself, a defect in the service.

7. Supporter tips

RailTrack is free to use in full. Voluntary supporter tips — a one-time tip or a monthly tip — are offered through Google Play Billing as a way to support development and keep the app free and ad-free.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

9. Third-party services and content

RailTrack relies on third-party services — map tiles, rail geometry, exchange-rate data, rail data sources, and Google Play Billing — each governed by its own terms and availability. The developer does not control those services and is not responsible for their content, accuracy, or uptime. Station names, train numbers, timetables, and tariff data belong to their respective owners; the app's own design, text, and code belong to the developer.

10. Alarms and notifications

Wake-up alarms depend on your device's system alarm service and on the permissions you grant (notifications, exact alarms, and background operation). Battery optimization, manufacturer power management, or revoked permissions can delay or suppress an alarm on some devices. RailTrack aims to fire alarms even with the app closed and to re-arm them after a reboot, but it cannot guarantee delivery on every device and operating-system configuration. Please keep a backup alarm for journeys where missing your stop would matter.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

RailTrack is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the maximum extent permitted by law. The developer does not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of inaccuracies in third-party rail data.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages — including missed trains or connections, missed stops, additional travel costs, or loss of data — arising from your use of, or inability to use, RailTrack, or from reliance on estimated or third-party data shown in it. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited. If you are dissatisfied with the app, your sole remedy is to stop using it and uninstall it.

13. Changes to the service and these terms

The developer may update, suspend, or discontinue features of RailTrack, and may update these terms, at any time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new “Last updated” date. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.

14. Termination

You may stop using RailTrack at any time by uninstalling it, which also removes your on-device data. The developer may stop offering the app at any time; sections 5, 11, and 12 survive any such termination.

15. Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Questions about these terms can be sent to support@railtrack.app.
